Purpose

To ensure that use of the name of the University of Saskatchewan or any of its signs and symbols by campus-related clubs and organizations operating as non-profit entities is in accordance with the University's visual identity guidelines.

Policy

Any use of the name of the University or its signs and symbols must be approved by the Board of Governors. Authorization will be sought through the Office of the Vice-President (Finance and Resources).

Student bodies entitled to this use include clubs, course unions, or groups of students that are either ratified by or affiliated with the Student's Union. Incorporated Societies or Associations that are outgrowths of the University Colleges or its Affiliated Colleges are also entitled to its use.

Employee organizations formed to better serve the University or for the purpose of serving themselves through social, physical, or cultural programs are eligible, provided that the Vice-President (Finance and Resources) ratifies the organization.

Friendship groups are eligible if they are organized and approved as a College or University support organization for the purpose of financially or morally identifying with or supporting the institution.

Procedure summary

  • Clubs and organizations that are granted this right must enter into a non-exclusive, revocable use agreement through which they agree to comply with general regulations.

  • Clubs, organizations or similar bodies who wish to register with the Corporations Branch of the Government of Saskatchewan as a non-profit organization will sign a consent form that includes a statement that the University consents to the use of the name. This is on the condition that the organization will discontinue use of the name any time the University notifies the Director of the Corporation or other similar official that the consent is withdrawn.
